We constantly post videos of our students piano recital on our Facebook page. The videos were shared by parents to show how much their children progress and improve in skill. We can feel how proud our parents are. So do we!
But, this is not all! We do not showcase individual student performance videos only. In fact, we organize virtual recitals every now and then to get our students to recite a song together regardless of their skill level. It does not matter if it is an annual virtual recital or a thematic virtual recital like the recent Mother’s Day piano recital. Our teachers work on the song arrangement that caters to all skill levels.
Be sure to watch last year virtual piano recital video that everyone loves!
Our featured student today is Fiona. She has been learning with one of our teachers for close to 2 years now. This video is her piano recital of the famous piece by Yiruma, River Flows in You, submitted a few months back. We especially love her hand expression when she plays this song. A year ago, she was still learning how to play the piano. A year later, she can play this whole piece expressively by heart.

About ‘River Flows in You’
The title itself is not a common phrase that you can understand just by reading it. So it’s really up to you how you feel about this piece as a casual listener or a pianist. River Flows in You is a hit among contemporary classical songs. It could mean chasing your dream or a story about how love blooms or simply just because you can relate to its lyrical melody or a piece that calms you down.
With the beautiful melody, aspiring pianists often find inspiration and great motivation from this song. It exudes the positive vibes that all aspiring pianists need. ‘River Flows in You’ was composed and released by Yiruma back in 2001. The song was a track from Yiruma’s second studio album, ‘First Love’.
This tranquil composition found its fame when it was first released. Its appearance in ‘Twilight’ elevates its popularity even more.
The Composer – Yiruma
Born as Lee Ru-Ma or known better by his stage name, Yiruma is a famous Korean pianist and composer. He started learning the piano at the age of 5, attended Purcell School for Young Musicians and graduated from King’s College London. After graduation, he returned to South Korea. His debut album, Love Scene, was released in 2001, followed by First Love, both in the same year.

Piano Recital Progress Record
We always encourage parents to film their children’s practice as a progress record. It’s the best way to keep track of their playing skill so students can compare and see how they progress as they learn.
Watching the video of our student performances and virtual recitals made us proud of what we’re doing. We promise to work harder to provide our students with the best online music lessons! It makes our day to know if this post has inspired you to start learning a musical instrument.
